Was Harry Houdini Jewish?

Harry Houdini

Well, to make a long story short, Harry Houdini was Jewish!

Since Harry Houdini's mother was Jewish, and in Orthodox Judaism and Conservative Judaism, those with a Jewish mother (or those who underwent a halakhic conversion) are considered Jewish, then that makes him Jewish. His father was Jewish too.

Harry Houdini (whose full birth name was Erik Weisz) was born on March 24, 1874 in Budapest, Austria-Hungary. Harry Houdini passed away on October 31, 1926 (aged 52).

His grand illusions and daring, spectacular escape acts made him one of the most famous magicians of all time.
