Was Helmut Newton Jewish?

Helmut Newton

Well, to make a long story short, Helmut Newton was Jewish!

Since Helmut Newton's mother was Jewish, and in Orthodox Judaism and Conservative Judaism, those with a Jewish mother (or those who underwent a halakhic conversion) are considered Jewish, then that makes him Jewish. His father was Jewish too.

Helmut Newton (whose full birth name was Helmut Neustadter) was born on 31 October, 1920 in Berlin, Germany. Helmut Newton passed away on 23 January 2004 (aged 83).

He was a photographer whos erotically charged black-and-white photos were a mainstay of Vogue and other publications.
