Was Isaac Asimov Jewish?

Isaac Asimov

Well, to make a long story short, Isaac Asimov was Jewish!

Since Isaac Asimov's mother was Jewish, and in Orthodox Judaism and Conservative Judaism, those with a Jewish mother (or those who underwent a halakhic conversion) are considered Jewish, then that makes him Jewish. His father was Jewish too.

Isaac Asimov (whose full birth name was Isaak Yudovich Ozimov) was born on October 4, 1919 in Petrovichi, Russian SFSR. Isaac Asimov passed away on April 6, 1992 (aged 72).

He is best known for his works of science fiction and for his popular science books. Asimov's most famous work is the Foundation Series; his other major series are the Galactic Empire series and the Robot series.
