Was Jonas Salk Jewish?

Jonas Salk

Well, to make a long story short, Jonas Salk was Jewish!

Since Jonas Salk's mother was Jewish, and in Orthodox Judaism and Conservative Judaism, those with a Jewish mother (or those who underwent a halakhic conversion) are considered Jewish, then that makes him Jewish. His father was Jewish too.

Jonas Salk was born on October 28, 1914 in New York, New York. Jonas Salk passed away on June 23, 1995 (aged 80).

He discovered and developed the first successful polio vaccine.
