Well, to make a long story short, Leon Trotsky was Jewish!
Since Leon Trotsky's mother was Jewish, and in Orthodox Judaism and Conservative Judaism, those with a Jewish mother (or those who underwent a halakhic conversion) are considered Jewish, then that makes him Jewish. His father was Jewish too.
Leon Trotsky (whose full birth name was Lev (Leiba) Davidovich Bronshtein) was born on 7 November 1879 in (or near) Yelizavetgrad, Kherson Governorate, Russian Empire. Leon Trotsky passed away on 21 August 1940 (aged 60).
He was a Russian Marxist revolutionary and theorist, Soviet politician, and the founder and first leader of the Red Army.
