Is Matt Lauer Jewish?

Matt Lauer

Well, to make a long story short, Matt Lauer is not Jewish!

Since Matt Lauer's mother is not Jewish, and in Orthodox Judaism and Conservative Judaism, those with a Jewish mother (or those who underwent a halakhic conversion) are considered Jewish, then that makes him not Jewish. Though he is not Jewish, His father is Jewish , and by Reform Judaism and Reconstructionist Judaism, who accept both matrilineal (by mother) and patrilineal (by father) descent views, he is considered Jewish.

Matt Lauer (whose full birth name is Matthew Todd Lauer) was born on December 30, 1957 in New York City.

He is best known as the host of NBC's The Today Show since 1996. He is also a contributor for NBC's Dateline NBC.
