Was Max Factor Jewish?

Max Factor

Well, to make a long story short, Max Factor was Jewish!

Since Max Factor's mother was Jewish, and in Orthodox Judaism and Conservative Judaism, those with a Jewish mother (or those who underwent a halakhic conversion) are considered Jewish, then that makes him Jewish. His father was Jewish too.

Max Factor (whose full birth name was Maksymilian Faktorowicz) was born on 15 September 1872 in Zdunska Wola (lodz), Poland. Max Factor passed away on August 30, 1938 (aged 60).

He was the founder of cosmetics giant Max Factor & Company, he largely developed the modern cosmetics industry and popularised the term make-up in noun form based on the verb.
