Was Meyer Lansky Jewish?

Meyer Lansky

Well, to make a long story short, Meyer Lansky was Jewish!

Since Meyer Lansky's mother was Jewish, and in Orthodox Judaism and Conservative Judaism, those with a Jewish mother (or those who underwent a halakhic conversion) are considered Jewish, then that makes him Jewish. His father was Jewish too.

Meyer Lansky (whose full birth name was Meyer Suchowljansky) was born on July 4, 1902 in Grodno, then in Poland.

Lansky, who was known as the ''Mob's Accountant'', was a major organized crime figure who, along with his associate Charles ''Lucky'' Luciano, was instrumental in the development of the ''National Crime Syndicate'' in the United States. For decades he was thought to be one of the most powerful individuals in the country.
